Exercise 01 / Space
A delayed reveal
Introduce a screen that allows the object to appear gradually along the route.
Follow the order in which a visitor discovers things.
Draw a short route through the model and photograph its first, middle and final views. Compare whether each position reveals something distinct.
Review point: The visitor's arrival is considered.
Exercise 02 / Object
A useful empty interval
Increase the gap around one piece and observe whether the pause becomes legible.
Make contrasting versions while the joints are temporary.
Use the same parts to construct an open, compressed and partially screened arrangement. Keep the scale marker in place during every comparison.
Review point: The sightline is tested at eye level.
Exercise 03 / Scene
A change of backdrop
Move a neutral plane behind the object and compare the resulting silhouette.
Test where the visitor chooses to stop.
Place a viewing marker at several distances from the object. Adjust the surrounding planes until the stopping point supports the intended view.
Review point: An intentional stopping point exists.
Exercise 04 / Space
An alternative arrival
Approach the model from the opposite side and identify which relationships stop working.
Follow the order in which a visitor discovers things.
Draw a short route through the model and photograph its first, middle and final views. Compare whether each position reveals something distinct.
Review point: The empty spaces have been inspected.
